In SP2010, we love the feature to bulk edit a SharePoint list. We can easily change entire column to another value by several clicks. However, in SP online modern view, you cannot bulk edit it. It is a pain when you need to modify 1000+ cells all at once.

So could we edit SharePoint online list just like our happy old days? Yes. It is simple. Use you MS Access program. Here is the steps:

  1. Open your MS Access, start by create a blank database.
  2. Select New data source > From Online Services > SharePoint List

3. In the next form, type in the URL of your SharePoint Online site, select the list, then select “Link to the data source by creating a linked table”

4. Here you are. You should see your list show up in Access just like an Excel spreadsheet. Your modification will reflect to SharePoint online immediately. No “Save” button is required! So be careful for your change!
